Look, I’m as much of a fan of Lauryn Hill, Nicki Minaj, and Cardi B as any music fan. Those rappers have empowered women in the music scene in a way I could never describe.

Still, though, I have to say that Cazzu takes the top of my “Favorite Female Rappers” list. It was just love at first listen for me. And as a fan of the Argentinian rapper, I wanted to share her story with you.

So, in this post, I’ll cover Cazzu’s age, philosophy, and music career to show you why I admire her so much.

How Old Is Cazzu?

Born on December 16, 1993, Cazzu celebrated her 31st birthday a few days before writing this post. I know some of you think she’s old, but I think she’s still quite young compared to what she’s achieved.

Oh, you’re interested to know what these achievements are? I got you.

What Has Cazzu’s Career Been Like?

Cazzu’s story is a classic one. She’s a musician who had a hard time finding an audience before finally developing a unique style that captured people’s attention. Let’s go through it in detail, though.

Developing an Interest in Music

Like most successful musicians, Cazzu developed an interest in music at a young age—11 years old, to be specific. She got her passion for music from her dad, an amateur guitarist who taught her how to appreciate different types of music.

Being as successful as she is, you might think Cazzu was one of those artists who wanted to do nothing but make music, right? That’s not true. In fact, it took her a while to decide to pursue music professionally.

After finishing high school, she wanted to study cinematography in Tucumán but quickly realized she wasn’t cut out for it. She decided to switch to graphic design to try to convey her creativity through visual mediums. Again, though, she didn’t last long in that field.

She was at a loss at this point, asking herself: “What is the right medium for me to express my creativity?” That’s when she decided to make music.

Cazzu’s Early Music Career

If I had to describe Cazzu’s early music career in one word, I’d say it was diverse. She didn’t stick to one type of music and tried various genres, starting as a cumbia singer and then venturing into rock, nu-metal, reggae, and urban music.

Then, in 2017, Cazzu was ready to release her first mixtape. While Maldade$ wasn’t as big of a hit as she thought it would be, it gave her enough exposure to catch the eyes of rappers Khea and Duki.

Realizing her potential, the two reached out to Cazzu to collaborate on a song. That’s how the sensual “Loca” came to be. The song was an instant hit, and Cazzu got her first taste of international fame.

I’m not exaggerating when I say it was the song that jump-started her career. And let me tell you, the Argentinian rapper took off as quickly and energetically as she could.

Error 93 (2019)

Error 93 (2019) was Cazzu’s first ambitious album, and she went all the way, drawing inspiration from all her favorite artists. If you listen closely, you’ll notice the influence of Avril Lavigne, Jeremih, Halsey, and Linkin Park on the songs of that album.

If “Loca” put Cazzu’s name on the map, Error 93 glued it with epoxy resin. The rapper became an established name in the music industry and she went on to perform at 2019’s Lollapalooza with Kendrick Lamar and Lenny Kravitz.

Striving to Go Further

After finding success in Error 93, Cazzu didn’t want to repeat the same formula, although that would’ve been tempting. Her philosophy was always to step into uncharted territory and mix different sounds and genres to make new music.

And that’s what she did with Una Niña Inútil, Bonus Trap, and Nena Trampa. Each one of those albums had a unique character that was different from the others. If it wasn’t for Cazzu’s vocals, I wouldn’t have guessed these albums were made by the same artist.

Even today, her fans are still going as strong as ever, and they were on top of the world when the rapper performed at the Buenos Aires Trap festival after a year-long hiatus.

Wrapping Up

Ultimately, Cazzu’s age doesn’t reflect her value or the influence she has on the music scene. With an unrelenting hunger to learn and improve, the rapper has set an example for all upcoming musicians to always try to break the norms and be their own unique selves.
